Coast Guard Auxiliary - 2019 Flotilla of the Year Awarded

The Woods Hole Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary was awarded the 2019 Flotilla of the Year by Sector Southeastern New England

Woods Hole, MA – The Woods Hole Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary was awarded the 2019 Flotilla of the Year by Sector Southeastern New England at the U.S Coast Guard Auxiliary, First District, Training Meeting which was held March 6th-8th in Newport, RI.

The members of the Woods Hole Flotilla volunteered almost 7,000 hours in support of the active-duty Coast Guard, as well as the recreational boating community in and around Falmouth during 2019. This included over 700 hours in marine safety patrols, 1,100 hours in direct Coast Guard operational support, conducting 217 courtesy vessel safety checks on recreational boats and the Flotilla hosted safe boating courses which included 10 one-day About Boating Safety courses, one 10-week Boating Skills & Seamanship course and one 8-week Weekend Navigator course.

The Woods Hole Flotilla is made up of volunteers from around the Falmouth area. They are always looking for new members to join this dedicate team of “Volunteer Life Savers”.
