Commodores Centennial Community Celebration

It’s a special year for both the Falmouth Commodores and the Cape Cod Baseball League. In 1923, the Cape Cod Baseball League was formed with only four teams – Falmouth, Chatham, Hyannis, and Osterville – and 100 years later we are stronger than ever.

COMMODORES CENTENNIAL COMMUNITY CELEBRATION

Bring your family and friends, and join us this Saturday, July 15th, for the Commodores’ Centennial Celebration from 3-5:30pm at Guv Fuller Field! Everyone is welcome and guaranteed to have a good time!

• Get autographs of the entire Commodores team and meet Homer (the team mascot). Special pages of the Centennial Book (comes with a pen) are set aside for autographs.
• Dunk your favorite Commodores intern in the dunk tank, play giant games, win prizes.
• Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the lively 60s and 70s era music from the Puffy Elvis band all afternoon. Puffy Elvis showcases the musical skills of local teachers and occasional guest performers. They will have you dancing on the field!
• Enjoy hotdogs at 1923 prices (25¢). Food is also available to purchase from Emma’s Portable Pizza Oven and Sea Scoops ice cream.
• Purchase Centennial merchandise at the Centennial Celebration. The Commodores’ merchandise store (aka the Sports Shack) will also be open during the event. Available Centennial gear includes pennants, balls, pins, coins, lucite coins, and hats. The store is always open one hour before home games, and on Thursdays in July from 10:30-11:30am.

In the event of rain, the Celebration will be held on July 21st. Same time, same place. After the Centennial Celebration, stay for the game when the Commodores take on the Chatham Anglers at 6pm on Guv Fuller Field.

SPECIAL EDITION CENTENNIAL PROGRAM BOOK

Check out the Special Edition Centennial Program Book, which celebrates 100 years of Falmouth Commodores and Cape Cod Baseball League baseball. The book provides a history of the team along with an extensive series of photographs dating back to over 100 years to when the Falmouth team was a “Club” team.

It includes interviews with former Commodores who played in Major League Baseball and perspectives of the Cape League from an MLB scout, college coach, our own Coach Jeff Trundy, and our #1 Fan Bill Snow. Also mentioned are some very important Commodores volunteers and fans from over the years.

The books are available to purchase for $25 at the Commodores’ sports shack, Commodores’ intern tent, at Eight Cousins Bookstore in Falmouth, and at Market Street Bookshop in Mashpee.

GAME NOTIFICATIONS

· The July 7th Commodores game against the Anglers in Chatham was cancelled due to fog. It has been rescheduled for July 18th at 7pm.

· The July 20th game against the Wareham Gatemen will be played at Mass Maritime Academy. The game begins at 6pm.

· The Cape League All-Star Game will be played at Whitehouse Field in Harwich on July 22nd. Gates open at 1:30pm, a Home Run Derby begins at 4pm, and the first pitch is scheduled for 6pm. Tickets are $10 each and available at capecodbaseball.org, the Falmouth Commodores intern tent during home games, and at the gate on July 22nd.
