Dennis Port Man Charged After Firing Gun During Argument: Police

A Dennis Port man faces weapons charges after making threats and firing shots into the air over the weekend, Dennis police said.

DENNIS PORT, MA — A Dennis Port man faces weapons charges after making threats and firing a weapon into the air at a home on North Street over the weekend, police said.

Dennis police were called to the scene on a report of gunshots on July 9 around 2 a.m. Their investigation found that Lamar Hicks, 34, of Dennis Port, made threats with a gun and then fired several rounds into the air.

Police also recovered two illegally owned guns, and additional magazines and ammunition, during the arrest and search, they said.

Hicks faces multiple weapons charges, including two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number.

He was arraigned on Monday morning in the Orleans District Court and ordered held for a dangerousness hearing at a later date, police said.
