Elder Services Public Meetings To Determine Needs Of Older Cape Cod Adults
Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands is hosting a virtual public hearing for Barnstable County. Here's what to know.

CAPE COD, MA — Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands is hosting a virtual public hearing for Barnstable County regarding the needs of older citizens March 21. The hearing will be held online via Zoom at 2 p.m.

The organization will hold virtual public hearings in Nantucket County and Dukes County as well. The Nantucket County hearing will be held at 10 a.m. on March 23, and the Dukes County one will be held at 2 p.m. on March 28.
"We need to hear from everyone in the tri-county area about the needs of elders 60 and over, and our focus is conducting a needs assessment," said Sarah Franey, Director of Community Services. "We hope to create a list of areas of interest, so we can attract appropriate grant applications."

Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands receives Title III B and D federal grants, which are awarded to other community and municipal organizations working in partnership with them to address particular challenges facing older citizens. These hearings are expected to help the organization plan for the distribution of those funds.
