Falmouth Genealogical Society Monthly Meeting

On Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 10AM, Dennis Ahern, an expert in Irish family research will speak on using the internet for Irish genealogical research. Basically, the internet cannot hand you your family tree with the click of a mouse, but it can help in your search. Irish genealogists are particularly handicapped by the loss of 19th century census records and the lack of civil registration of births, deaths and marriages before 1864. This talk will discuss the growing body of resources available on the internet, including indices and databases of records in Ireland, as well as immigration and other records available for destination countries of Irish emigrants. Anyone investigating Irish roots or thinking about starting such a research project will benefit from this talk.
