Film Screening: "Naomi"(Falmouth Jewish Congregation Summer Series)

The Falmouth Jewish Congregation 2012 Summer Series concludes with a screening of the 2010 Israeli film noir hit Naomi, directed by Eitan Tzur. Nominated for three Israeli "Ophir" Awards (Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay), Naomi centers on an aging Technion professor, his beautiful, blond-haired wife, her "friend," his police detective friend, his mother (for sure, you've never experienced a Jewish mother like this one) and a murder. Ilan Ben Natan, a 58-year-old astrophysics professor, is obsessively in love with his young wife, Naomi. When Ilan discovers that his deepest fears have come true – Naomi has a lover – he is unable to control himself. He confronts the lover and commits a horrible act, the consequences of which will weigh heavily on his conscience.

Naomi has been featured at Jewish film festivals around the world and was a big hit at the Boston Jewish Film Festival 2011. Directed by Eitan Tzur, who directed the Israeli versions of In Treatment (the original) and The Office, it features Orna Porat and Yossi Polak, two of Israel’s leading actors of screen and stage.

Doors open at 7:00 P.M. Refreshments included in ticket price. In Hebrew with English subtitles.
