How did you get that boat in the bottle? It is a skill that Gerald Ross, docent at the Woods Hole Historical Museum, enjoys demonstrating every Wednesday in August, 11 am to 1 pm, for free, for the public at the Woods Hole Historical Museum.

Mr. Ross will also conduct a Boat in a Bottle class  on Saturday, August 4 from 10 AM to 12:30 PM, at the museum at  573 Woods Hole Road. Mr. Ross welcomes children over the age of 10, accompanied by adults,  to attend the class. There is $15 charge for the kit, a model of USS Constitution, which includes a 15-ounce bottle and all the materials needed, except scissors, which must be brought by individuals.

Mr. Ross took on the challenge of building the Mayflower, his first ship in a bottle, for the 350th Anniversary Celebration of the Pilgrims landing in Plymouth. His Mayflower in a bottle is in the Plymouth Historical Museum. After he became a docent at WHHM, he began teaching classes.

Call the Woods Hole Historical Museum at 508-548-7270 to register for the class.
