Monotype is ideal for the painter who would like to step away from the easel and try creating a new approach to painting. To create a montype, one paints with ink on a smooth surface such as a plate of metal, glass or plexiglass. The image is then transferred to paper with the pressure of the press. This workshop will demonstrate basic techniques to make a successful monotype print, including the process of selelcting a surface for the plate, preparing paper for printing, and operating a press.
