The Falmouth Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual summer fundraiser on August 15th. This year's luncheon will feature Variety. . . Is the Spice of Life, a fundraiser for the Clark Cancer Center. The show will highlight local talent, from Cape Cod and beyond. Entertainment will include opera, contemporary music, performance artists, piano, guitar, and folk music. In addition to the music, there will be a silent auction, with items donated by generous local businesses. Some silent auction items: golf outings; hotel accommodations; photography and dining certificates. There will also be a raffle and a boutique. The boutique -- Baubles, Bangles, Beads and More -- will feature gently used jewelry, scarves, and belts donated by Auxiliary members and their friends. Prices will be exceptionally reasonable. A Premium Thrift Shop Store will offer items priced for quick sale, including well-known brand names. The event will help the Auxiliary in meeting its $1 million pledge, its largest ever, to the Clark Cancer Center at Falmouth Hospital. Opened in 2011, the Center provides much-needed local access to the latest and most reliable imaging and therapies available. Cape residents now have access to high-quality cancer treatment in their own backyard, eliminating the need to travel to Boston. Dr. Robert McAnaw, this year's luncheon speaker, will present a brief look at the Clark Cancer Center, the work done by the staff there, and what the Center means to the community. Each of us has been affected by cancer, whether personally or because of a loved one or friend. Having this state-of-the-art Center locally is a tremendous benefit to those living on the Cape. Tickets are $45 per person, payable by check to the Falmouth Hospital Auxiliary. Checks should be sent to Maureen Sullivan, 40 Lowry Road, Falmouth, MA 02540.
