Falmouth 2018-19 School Year Preview

The district has hired dozens of new teachers and will have two new principals this year.

FALMOUTH, MA – The start of school, believe it or not, is just around the corner. The first day of school for all grades is Tuesday, Sept. 4. You can see more important school dates on the Falmouth school calendar here.

Enrollment across the Falmouth Public Schools is 3,346 students, according to the superintendent's office. Falmouth has seven schools – one school serving Pre-K to fourth grade, three that serve kindergarten to fourth grade, one school for fifth and sixth grade, one school for seventh and eighth grade and a high school.

The district has hired 30 new teachers and two new principals: Kathleen Riordan at the Morse Pond School and Sandy Kapsambelis at Teaticket Elementary.

Falmouth Public Schools will be introducing a new literacy program called Journeys for grades 1-4, the superintendent's office said. It is published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and aims to increase growth in student literacy across the district.
