Falmouth Brush Fire Closes Roads Early Friday Morning

Smoke produced from the fire in combination with cooler temperatures and no wind created poor visibility, forcing road closures.

FALMOUTH, MA — A large brush fire on Blacksmith Shop Road forced road closures early Friday morning, Falmouth Fire/Rescue officials said.

Officials received reports of the fire around 2:30 a.m. Personnel arrived to find a large fire involving composting material at a local business.

Due to the size of the area, personnel developed a plan to work with the business owner and utilize large excavating equipment to expose the burning material to "direct copious amounts of water" to control and extinguish the fire, officials said.
