FALMOUTH, MA — The Falmouth Select Board voted to revoke all special event permits for the rest of the year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The order is similar to the cancellation of all summer events such as the Fourth of July parade the board ordered earlier this year. Events canceled for the rest of the year include several fundraising bike rides, the annual Striper Fest, the Jazz Stroll and the Falmouth in the Fall Road Race.

Town Manager Julian Suso said canceling events became necessary following Gov. Charlie Baker's order which reduced outdoor event limits from 100 to 50 people.

The select board will consider reinstating licenses if they can operate safely withing social distancing and CDC guidelines.

"Should any of these special events want to ask to be reconsidered if they can feel they can reorganize and operate fully within the governor’s guidelines, they can be brought back and reviewed internally," Suso said.
