A 2005 map done by an acoustical engineering company for the placement of commercial megawatt wind turbines according to a 2013 Massachusetts Clean Energy Center memo made mistakes and underestimated the noise levels of the turbines in the original study
The 2005 map also does not include the noise warning letter from Vestas wind company to the Town of Falmouth in August 2010. The warning stated the turbines generate 6 or more decibels higher than the specifications and the town takes on the responsibility placing the turbines too close to residential homes
The Town of Falmouth avoided the Special Permit 240 -166 process because it would require additional abutter notifications and hearings
The additional abutter notifications would result in the failure to construct megawatt wind turbines in Falmouth
