Falmouth Health Board To Hold Public Forum On Needle Exchange

Health officials will discuss the "letter of support" it issued to the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod last fall.

FALMOUTH, MA – Health officials will hold a public meeting Jan. 12 to discuss its "letter of support" for a needle exchange program run by the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod. The board issued the letter in November, prompting public outcry, particularly from residents in the area of the planned site at 178 East Falmouth Highway.

Many spoke in opposition to the exchange at the board of selectmen meeting in December. Those against the program cited its location near St. Anthony's Church and expressed concern over clients who are at risk for communicable diseases and overdoses coming into contact with area residents, especially children.

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. Jan. 12 in the Falmouth High School auditorium.
