Falmouth Heights Fire Department Presence Explained

Rooftop HVAC units malfunctioned causing smoke but no structural damage on Grand Avenue earlier this week, officials said.

FALMOUTH, MA — Residents and visitors to Falmouth Heights on Tuesday afternoon likely saw a noteworthy fire department presence. Officials explained the cause of that this week.

On Tuesday around 2:20 p.m., a building maintenance person found a "smoke condition" in a condo unit at 286 Grand Ave. in Falmouth Heights, officials said. The building is a multiple-story building with a restaurant and several condos.

Fire crews located a "slight haze and a burning electrical odor in a unit," officials said.

The rooftop HVAC units were investigated, and one was found to have malfunctioned, causing a smoke condition.

There was no structural damage to the building, and all apparatus was clear of the scene in about one hour.
