Falmouth High School Band Returns Under Friday Night Lights
Live music is back in the Falmouth school community after a year-and-a-half of virtual performances.

FALMOUTH, MA — After a year and a half of music students learning, singing and playing their instruments virtually, the Falmouth High School marching band took the field Friday night, marking the return of live performances for the young musicians.
Unlike last year when football was relegated to spring with strict limits on students and parents attending, the Clippers band was back playing the National Anthem, the school fight song and a half-time performance.
"It was so special to see our students back on the field, in their uniforms and playing live music in front of a live audience," said Steve Edwards, the head of Falmouth Public Schools' fine arts department.

Edwards said school officials are in the planning stages for bringing back band concerts district wide, including All Bands Night. All Bands Night showcases Morse Pond, Lawrence and Falmouth High School's jazz bands.
The Lawrence School band and chorus are also organizing their annual spring trip to Great East Music Festival in Springfield, while high school concert, jazz, chamber and chorus students will head to New York City in April for a competition and cultural experience. The Falmouth High School jazz band will also bring back its annual Evening of Jazz Event in April.

Edwards said there will be many fundraisers throughout the year to offset the costs of these opportunities and to purchase new instruments, including a timpani and baritone saxophone.
Fundraisers will include the Holiday Greenery Sales in November, electronics disposal events in the fall and spring, Christmas tree pick up in January, fruit sales in February and the Evening of Jazz event in April.
More details about each event are expected to come soon.
