Falmouth Holidays By The Sea Prompts Parking Ban, Traffic Restrictions

Falmouth police released information on the parking ban and traffic plan ahead of the weekend holiday festival. Here's what to know.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth is set to celebrate the start of the holiday season this weekend with the annual Holidays by the Sea weekend.

What that means is a visit from Santa Claus, plenty of hot chocolate and adult beverages and, for drivers, an adherence to altered traffic and parking rules.

The Falmouth Police Department released the traffic and parking plan for the weekend of events.

Main Street will be closed on Saturday from 1 to 9 p.m. from Shore Street to Hewins Street at the Town Green for the Holiday Stroll & lighting of the green. Towing of parked vehicles will begin at 1:15 p.m., police said.

Due to the parade on Sunday, the parade route will be closed to traffic at 11:45 p.m. There is no parking on any road along the Route, and parked vehicles will be towed starting at 10 a.m., police said.

Dillingham Ave between Davis Straits & Gifford St. will be closed to all traffic at 8 a.m. Davis Straits from Jones Road to Falmouth Heights Road and Main Street will be closed at 11:45 a.m.

Northbound traffic on Davis Straits between Dillingham Avenue and Jones Road will be permitted, however.
