Falmouth Massachusetts Wind Turbine Update April 2020
Big Trouble Ahead: Pandemic Delays Have A Significant Impact On Project Financing

Every cloud does have a silver lining including an outbreak of a pandemic disease.
The one good thing about the never-ending wind turbine fiasco is the number of decent supportive people who have emerged as 'friends' in at least twenty-one communities despite having never met them.
The Town of Falmouth fought for in court for seven years to keep the town-owned wind turbines operational. The turbines named Falmouth Wind I and II each produce 110 decibels of noise for a total of 113 decibels. It has been known since 1987 in Boone, North Carolina that setbacks for health and safety are almost 3000 feet

The major accomplishment of the entire project was getting citizens of Massachusetts to understand why the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection took no action against the noise being generated by the wind turbines despite thousands of complaints. When noise is found to be a nuisance or a threat to health, MassDEP requires the source to mitigate its noise.
We tend to think of Massachusetts as a pretty corrupt place. Let’s see, three House speakers in a row have been convicted of crimes but what happened at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection takes the cake on Beacon Hill corruption.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection with former Governor Deval Patrick at the helm became exactly a sort of politics-as-usual corrupt public agency.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection brokered a federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus loan on the town of Falmouth second wind turbine Falmouth Wind II. State and town officials had been warned in writing prior to construction the turbines generate 110 decibels of noise each.
MassDEP created a substantial and specific danger to public health and safety-related to the implementation or use of covered ARRA funds. Embarrassed MassDEP executives who had approved the wind turbine loans with federal officials could take no action against the Falmouth wind turbines or any other wind turbine in the state over the noise.
The federal ARRA wind turbine loan brokered by MassDEP required Falmouth Wind II to remain energy efficient or the entire loan became due. Both Falmouth wind turbines were shut down by the courts in 2015 and 2017.
MassDEP had no other option but to sit on their thumbs until the courts shut down the turbines.
Massachusetts state officials have still to this day not required the Town of Falmouth to repay the balance of the 5 million dollar loan plus 2 percent interest, The corruption continues until further notice.
The Town of Falmouth is still struggling and spending taxpayer money, another 2.5 million was appropriated at the last November 2019 Town Meeting, and still without a solution as to what to do with these budget-breaking noise-generating dinosaurs.
Massachusetts towns everywhere have studied the potential pitfalls of wind power as decisions are clouded over by the religion of green and government subsidies. The final numbers on the actual cost (loss) to the taxpayers of Falmouth have never been released and probably never will be.
The Falmouth turbines were designed in the late 1990s designed to last 20 years, and increasing numbers will reach the end of their serviceable life in the next few years.
Falmouth officials are contemplating “repowering ” one wind turbine by completely decommissioning and replacing the old turbine out of town at a new location making costs higher than with a new development.
The Falmouth gear-driven wind turbines are reaching their lifespans quickly and may take a Pandemic for people to understand. Industrial wind is a bunco scheme of enormous consequence. The people who value intellectual honesty should not quietly be fleeced by such mendacity, even from their government officials.
