Falmouth Massachusetts Wind Turbine Update Long Overdue

The Town of Falmouth has a letter dated August 3, 2010, showing the turbines are twice as loud as those in the KEMA Inc study of 2005.

The foreign-made Vestas V82 turbines were installed with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds in 2010 and 2012 after General Electric refused due to residential setbacks.

Massachusetts outside council warned the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust Falmouth still owes 5 million in ARRA funds as the turbines are no longer energy efficient plus 2 percent interest.

On June 17, 2017, the Massachusetts courts in multiple decisions shut down the two nuisance wind turbines.

In January of 2019, the Falmouth Select Board voted not to operate either Wind 1 or Wind 2 again in Falmouth.

The Select Board the same night board unanimously voted to direct Town Manager and Town Counsel to prepare three requests for proposals (RFPs).

In March of 2019, the Falmouth Town Manager said the RFP will be issued in 30 days. NO RFP has ever been issued.

Falmouth Town Meeting in November of 2019 voted 2.5 million to disassemble the antique wind turbines about the same as buying a brand new turbine.
