There are reportedly thousands of abandoned wind turbines across the U.S.

Falmouth, Massachusetts has become part of this growing scourge. Despite ten million in taxpayer subsidies pumped into the so-called “green energy” industry thousands of wind turbines have been left to rot across America.

Falmouth is no exception to the tons of debris being left as eyesores causing property devaluations and how about those blinking airplane warning lights that look at night to be the size of a compact car.

The growing amount of “green junk wind turbines” littering the American landscape is back in the headlines again and again as the Falmouth turbines have become known nationally as a health and financial disaster.

Is the malfeasance of Falmouth municipal leaders breathtaking or just lack of knowledge? The Falmouth wind installations prove industrial wind is a bunco scheme of enormous consequence. The people who value intellectual honesty should not quietly be fleeced by such mendacity, even from their government officials.

Chapter 240 Section 3B of the zoning bylaws show that since they have failed to operate for more than 12 consecutive months, they were abandoned in 2015 and 2017 respectively.

Barnstable County Superior Court Judge Cornelius J. Moriarty II upheld a zoning board of appeals decision deeming the turbines a nuisance on June 17, 2017. The three year anniversary is here.

The town owns two commercial wind turbines. The first shut down in 2015 the second 2017 both will never operate again in Falmouth.

The town claims it is performing periodic maintenance to preserve the turbine for future relocation. The Town has hired an engineering firm to assess other locations for the removal and future operation of turbines. This raises the question on how much has spent on engineering and litigation over the past ten years and they still don't spin!

The question remains: who would want gear driven wind turbines designed in the late 1990s that generate 110 decibels of noise each?

Falmouth Town Meeting in November of 2019 in Article 14 voted to spend 2.5 million to take down the wind turbines and put them in storage for future sale or lease.

The town still owes 3.5 million of a 5 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act loan that requires the second town-owned wind turbine to remain energy-efficient or pay the money back plus 2 percent interest.

The Article 14, 2019 vote by Town Meeting confirms the wind turbines are abandoned.
