FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth has named three candidates to replace outgoing Police Chief Edward Dunne.

Two internal candidates and a police chief from another Massachusetts town have made the cut to replace Edward Dunne. They include Falmouth Police Captain Brian Reid and Police Lieutenant Sean Doyle, as well as Westborough Police Chief Jeffrey Lourie.

The Select Board has to approve whatever choice the town manager makes in the process, and interim Town Manager Peter Johnson-Staub said he'd like to name a final candidate sometime in June.

Dunne was originally set to retire on May 31, but left early according to a Cape Cod Times report. Captain Brian Loewen is serving as acting chief in the meantime.

As for next steps for current candidates, reference checks will be completed and they will then appear in front of the Select Board, should they be chosen as the final candidate.
