Falmouth Offshore Questions Unanswered

The Town of Falmouth conservation department agreed with ocean wind contractors prior to November 10, 2020, to conduct test boring on two beach parking lots. Massachusetts utility executives in 2019 expected power from the project to be brought onshore in Falmouth well over two years ago.

The town over an extended period conducted draft studies on EMF, electric magnetic fields, and noise levels for a giant onshore electric substation the size of Falmouth Mall.

The Falmouth five-year strategic plan started in 2016 requires discussion on setting a new number one priority to pro-actively interact with department heads, committees, and the "public" in advance of the strategic planning.

Local residents in January 2022 requested public interactions or questions and answer follow-up questions on the multiple high voltage onshore electric cable project proposed throughout town.

The offshore wind company in March produced a one-hour virtual tour video titled: "Falmouth, MA Offshore Wind Project - - Virtual Tour." This video addressed prewritten questions selected by the offshore company but no follow-up questions.

Pubic comments have been postponed at Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board (EFSB) an independent state board that reviews proposed large energy facilities including power plants, and electric transmission lines. (March 2022)

The Falmouth Select Board in good faith made arrangements for a public forum with the offshore wind company to meet with the public and address questions and answers on June 8, 2022. The forum demonstrated overwhelming opposition to the cables and substations near residential homes.

This was the first public meeting and hopefully, citizens will get their answers at the next public meeting.
