Falmouth Planning Board Continues Fire Station Review

The board will continue a review of a proposed new station, which would be located at 878 Sandwich Rd.

FALMOUTH, MA — The Planning Board will continue a review of a proposed new fire station, which would be located on Sandwich Rd., during a Tuesday meeting.

This is a continuation of the review. The proposal had its first appearance in front of the board in late June. A deadline for the proposal of Sept. 1 has been set.

A new fire station would be built at 878 Sandwich Rd., according to the proposal. The area, currently heavily wooded, would need to be cleared to build.

A land area of over 86,000 square feet would be more than enough to contain the building, with a proposed footprint of 10,250 square feet.

According to the Falmouth Enterprise, the station would include "a vestibule for patients in need of minor emergency care, six firefighter dorms, a kitchen and dining area, showers, lockers, a wellness room, a patio area and a decontamination area with lockers and showers."
