Falmouth Police Correct Misinformation Regarding Active Shooter Drill

An active shooter drill in Mashpee was confused for a real active shooter situation at a local Cumberland Farms, police said.

FALMOUTH, MA — Let's get this out of the way now: No, there was not an active shooter at a Cape Cod Cumberland Farms on Monday.

According to Falmouth Police, the department was conducting active shooter training in Mashpee on Monday. However, the department said there was confusion around the police activity.

"It has come to our attention that somebody has mistaken our training scenario to be an active shooter event at the Cumberland Farms store in Teaticket," the department said.

Falmouth Fire/Rescue was also participating in the training and shared the message.
