Falmouth School District and the MPDE Participate in "Building Bridges" Program
This annual event will update educators on current national educational issues and connect them to educational and community resources.

The Massachusetts Partnership for Diversity in Education (MPDE) is holding its annual professional development program, "Building Bridges," on Wednesday, November 9. This is an annual event to update educators on current national educational issues, and connect them to educational and community resources. Massachusetts educators and education professionals, including superintendents, high school guidance department chairs, METCO directors, teachers and human resource professionals, are encouraged to attend.
The event will be held at Regis College and will begin with a light breakfast at 9:30am. The 2011 keynote speaker will be Dr. Dana Mohler-Faria, President of Bridgewater State University.
Dr. Mohler-Faria, an inspirational leader and educator, is the first person of color to lead Bridgewater State University institution and, at the time of his inauguration 11 years ago, was only the second Cape Verdean in the U.S. to be elected the president of a higher education institution. Mohler-Faria will speak on the topical issues including the state of public education and closing the achievement gap. He will also highlight initiatives in the Brockton and New Bedford Public Schools that identify and support prospective educators of color and share his vision on collaborations to enhance diversity from classroom to central administration. Dr. Mohler-Faria’s keynote will begin promptly at 10am.
