Two feuding perfume clerks have no idea they are in love in the Falmouth Theatre Guild's fall musical, She Loves Me, a delightful old-fashioned comedy involving mistaken identity and letter writing.

The show opens November 8 at Highfield Theater in Falmouth.

"She Loves Me" is the fourth adaptation of the 1937 play "Parfumerie" by Miklos Laszlo. The first was the classic 1940 James Stewart/Margaret Sullavan movie, The Shop Around the Corner. The second adaptation was the 1949 Judy Garland/Van Johnson musical, In the Good Old Summertime. And the third was the 1998 Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan film, You've Got Mail.

The musical premiered on Broadway in 1963 and has been revived many times since on Broadway and in theaters across the country.

It has a book by Joe Masteroff, music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. Bock and Harnick were the talents behind Fiddler on the Roof; and Masteroff wrote the book for Cabaret.

The Falmouth Theatre Guild production is directed by Tim Hystad, one of the stars of last fall's "Fun Home," who is making his FTG directing debut. Hystad has performed in the show twice in two different roles and is a great fan of the character development in the story. "It's about two working people trying to get through the day and also find love and happiness," he said.

The female lead in the show, Sara Sneed playing Amalia, calls She Loves Me "a delightful show that brings levity at a time that people really need it. You leave the theater feeling light-hearted." She said her character is "a spunky gal" and that the songs written for Amalia bring a lot of dimension to her character.

The Falmouth Theatre Guild production of "She Loves Me" runs November 8 to 24 at Highfield Theater, 58 Highfield Drive in Falmouth. Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets cost $23; $21 for seniors 62 and up; and $19 for those under 18 years old. For tickets go to FalmouthTheatreGuild.org or call 866-811-4111. For group sales, the box office can be reached at 508-548-0400.
