Falmouth Wind Turbine Demolition Delayed
Falmouth's wind turbine renewable energy project appears to be finally nearing a close by the middle of September 2022

In June of 2017, the two town-owned wind turbines were shut down by the Massachusetts courts as they are a nuisance.

Wind 1 and Wind 2, the turbines at the Falmouth Wastewater Treatment Facility have been subjected to as many as eleven lawsuits and additional appeals. The turbine's noise and shadow flicker affected the health of neighbors.
The turbines were installed despite a noise warning from the manufacturer of 110 decibels of noise and a domestic wind company refused to build at the site, in addition, no permits were issued to build both turbines.

In November 2019, Town Meeting voted $2.5 million for the takedown of Falmouth's two turbines.
An RFP, request for a proposal to remove the turbines was issued by the town at the start of 2022.
In April of 2022, the low bidder was awarded the contract to remove the two wind turbines for $39,500.00
The target date for removal appears to be some time in September in which case the original contract proposal will have to be extended.
