FALMOUTH, MA – An East Falmouth woman has been charged with assault following a reported confrontation over a "Make America Great Again" hat at a local Mexican restaurant. A man told police 41-year-old Rosaine Santos verbally accosted him at Casa Vallarta Friday evening because he was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat, according to court documents cited by the Cape Cod Times.

He recorded her on his phone as she walked behind him and hit the hat off his head, according to police. Police said Santos appeared to be intoxicated and said the man should not be allowed to eat at a Mexican restaurant, the Times reported.

As officers escorted her from the restaurant, she hit the man over the head again, according to police. She pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of disorderly conduct and assault and battery and released on her own recognizance.
