Former Falmouth Police Officer Killed In Crash
Michael Lee, a 38-year-old Webster police officer who also served as a Falmouth police officer, died in a crash Saturday.

AUBURN, MA — A former Falmouth police officer was killed in a crash in Auburn Saturday, authorities said. Michael Lee, 38, died after police said he crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer on Route 395. He was a Webster police officer at the time.

"He will be missed by not only his colleagues in law enforcement, but by the community he served," Webster police said in a statement. "Michael had a way of bringing a smile to everyone's face the moment he encountered them ... We take solace in the fact that he is now watching our backs from above like he always did on the ground."

Added Falmouth police, "Mike Lee was an outstanding police officer and a good, caring person. He was only with the Falmouth PD for a short period of time but he left a lasting impression on the officers who were lucky enough to work along side of him."
State police said the crash happened at about 1 a.m. on the southbound side of Route 395. Lee was driving a Toyota Tundra truck when he struck a tractor-trailer parked in the breakdown lane, police said. Lee died at the scene. The tractor-trailer was driven by a 50-year-old man from Central Islip, New York, who was not hurt, police said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
