Cape Cod Pony Attacked With Pitchfork: Police

Scottie, a champion Welsh pony, was attacked after someone broke into a Harwich horse farm, police said. A GoFundMe effort was started.

HARWICH, MA — The Cape Cod community is rallying around a pony that was brutally attacked by someone wielding a pitchfork at a horse farm on Derby Lane in Harwich. A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up for Scottie, a champion Welsh Pony. As of 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, supporters have raised $27,160 to help pay Scottie's medical bills.

According to campaign organizer Claire Bangert, of the CB Equestrian Center, someone broke into the farm some time between Saturday night's feeding and Sunday morning's feeding. Four of the horses were let out of their stalls, including Scottie, who was impaled with a pitchfork handle. Police were called to the scene around 9 a.m. Sunday.

Bangert said a veterinarian rushed over and saved Scottie's life with a successful surgery.
