Harbor To The Bay Ride Comes To Cape Cod This Weekend

Boston, Sagamore Bridge and Provincetown routes are scheduled on Cape Cop for Saturday. Here's what to know about the ride.

CAPE COD, MA — Harbor to the Bay, an annual bike ride that raises money for local organizations supporting people with HIV/AIDS, is back for 2022 this weekend.

This year, there are two routes on Cape Cod, one that starts at the Sagamore Bridge, and the other which begins at Provincetown's Harbor Hotel. A ride is also scheduled in Boston, all with varying distances.

The Wellfleet Police Department has given a picture of what the ride may look like locally, and around what time drivers and other residents can expect riders.

"Riders will come into town on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and proceed to Rt. 6 via Lecount Hollow Rd. from the Rail Trail parking lot. From there they'll proceed along Rt. 6 into Truro toward Ptown, their final destination," police said.

"Please watch for bicyclists during the afternoon, and good luck to all the riders," they added.

Here's what to know ahead of ride day:

Boston Route Schedule

The Boston route of the Harbor to the Bay ride is indeed the namesake ride. At 120-miles, the ride begins at Copely Square in Boston and finishes in Provincetown.

Crew and rider check-in last from 4:30 to 5 a.m., with breakfast from 5 to 6 a.m. at Trinity Church, where riders will meet for check-in and takeoff.

Opening ceremonies begin at 6:15 a.m., and the ride starts around 6:20 a.m. Any rider arriving after 6:30 a.m. will have to start at the Sagamore Bridge, officials said.

Sagamore Bridge Schedule

According to ride officials, check-in begins at 9 a.m. and stretches until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the Sagamore Bridge for the 68-mile ride.

Signage will be located in the commuter parking lot near the former Friendly's building for participants, and the ride begins at 10:30 a.m.

Provincetown Short Ride Schedule

This 20-mile ride starts and ends in Provincetown. Check-in starts at noon, and the ride starts at 12:25 p.m.

Who The Ride Benefits

According to Harbor to the Bay officials, more than $5 million has been raised for four HIV/AIDS organizations since the ride was launched in 2003. Those organizations include: Fenway Health Center, AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, AccessHealth MA (Formerly CRI), and AIDS Action.
