Interiors Exhibit Takes Topic Literally, Figuratively
Sixty works by 44 local artists fill the art center's Hermann Gallery for the month of February.
The current show, “Interiors,” at the Falmouth Art Center takes viewers into the homes and minds of local artists.
Sixty works by 44 local artists fill the art center’s Hermann Gallery for the month of February.
Matching the theme for many artists meant submitting paintings of the interiors of homes or businesses. For instance, the entry of Peter Morrison of North Falmouth is an acrylic painting, “In Good Company,” depicting a scene in a bar. Falmouth artist Sigrid Hecker’s oil painting, “Trio,”
includes a self-portrait with two cats. But other artists, like Linda Walker and Miki Lovett, both of Mashpee, were inspired by the theme to submit an abstract painting that speaks to emotions, a figurative rather than literal interior.

The exhibit is open through March 1. Also on view at the art center this month is “Our Stories” in the Landrau-Partan Gallery and “Quarantine Diaries” in the Sigel Gallery.
The Falmouth Art Center, at 137 Gifford Street, is free and open to the public Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM, and Sunday from 1 to 4 PM.
