Intoxicated Biker Cited After Being Hit By Car: Falmouth Police

Police said the biker was intoxicated, did not have the required lighting on his bike and was riding in the middle of a poorly lit street.

FALMOUTH, MA — A man riding a bike was hit by a car Tuesday evening, but he will be cited after police said he was intoxicated.

Police said the crash happened just before 6 p.m. in the 100th block of East Falmouth Highway. A 73-year-old woman driving a 2018 Subaru Outback struck the bike, police said.

The woman and her passenger were not harmed, but the 49-year-old bicyclist suffered injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Police said the bicyclist was intoxicated, did not have the required lighting on his bike and was riding in the middle of a poorly lit section of the road. Police said he was cited for violating Massachusetts bicycle safety laws. His identity was not released.
