FALMOUTH, MA — A lost wallet somehow led to a surprise performance from Evan Dando, the frontman for the '90s alternative rock band The Lemonheads.

Dando, a Massachusetts-native, posted Saturday on Twitter he lost his wallet while walking around near a Falmouth Hotel.

"I dropped my wallet with my driver's license and two debit cards in it," Dando tweeted. "I was walking from the Mariner Hotel to the Palmer lot."

Fifteen minutes later, he got a reply from a fan. Mike Ghelfi, an employee at the Walgreen's store on Main Street across from the hotel, told Dando the wallet was turned into the store, and he'd keep it in the office until the singer could come get it.

And when Dando arrived Monday to claim his wallet, Ghelfi was surprised by an intimate musical performance. Dando came in, acoustic guitar in hand and sang an excerpt of "Confetti", from the Lemonheads' fifth album "It's a Shame About Ray."

"Just had a special guest appearance at Walgreen's by artist Evan Dando," Ghelfi's tweeted along with a video of the performance. "Thank you Evan, you sounded great as always!"
