Maggot Claim At Falmouth Chinese Restaurant Unsubstantiated
Health inspectors did not find evidence to support a public complaint that Golden Sails had maggots in its food.
FALMOUTH, MA — Health officials could not find evidence to support a woman's claim that a Falmouth Chinese restaurant had maggots in its food. In a May 1 Facebook post that was shared on local social media groups, the woman asked if the food at Golden Sails costs "extra for the maggots."
The restaurant refuted the woman's claims in a statement Friday. According to a post on the Golden Sails Facebook page, health inspectors conducted a two-hour unscheduled inspection and did not find code violations in its food. The staff also claimed the woman did not inform them of any problems with the food.
"We have been in Falmouth almost 30 years," the statement read in part. "Our goal is to always treat our customers as our family and provide safe food all the time. We have never had trouble with our health inspectors."

Health inspectors received a complaint about the restaurant and inspected it Friday morning, a representative from the Falmouth Health Department wrote in an email to Patch. The department "could not substantiate the claims made in the complaint" and confirmed during a follow-up Monday that any issues found during the initial inspection were corrected, according to the email.
Golden Sails remains open.
