Man Robs Falmouth Bank, Assaults Officer: Police
Police said Michael McLane, 31, robbed the Martha's Vineyard Savings Bank on Palmer Avenue and head-butted an officer trying to detain him.
FALMOUTH, MA — A Freetown man was arrested Monday after police said he robbed a bank in Falmouth.
Just before 3 p.m., police were called to the Martha's Vineyard Savings Bank on Palmer Avenue after witnesses said a man ran away with an undisclosed amount of money.
While searching the area, police said they saw the man, later identified as Michael McLane, 31, emerge from the woods near Depot Avenue. Officers discovered that McLane also had an outstanding warrant and placed him under arrest.

Police said McLane struggled with police, but an officer was able to restrain him without injuring him until other officers arrived to help. Once McLane was placed into handcuffs and brought to his feet, he head-butted an officer, police said.
McLane was charged with unarmed robbery, larceny, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
