Mashpee School Closed For 3rd Day In A Row
Officials canceled school Thursday to examine equipment that leaked natural gas earlier in the week.

MASHPEE, MA – A Mashpee elementary school was closed again Thursday after a natural gas leak shut down the school earlier in the week. Mashpee Superintendent Patricia DeBoer wrote in an email to the community that Quashnet Elementary School would remain closed so officials could examine a heating unit that is believed to have leaked carbon monoxide, according to the Cape Cod Times.
The Kenneth C. Coombs School and Mashpee Middle-High School were in session Thursday.
Quashnet was evacuated Tuesday after dangerous carbon monoxide levels were detected in the building. Two kitchen workers were overcome by the gas; one was hospitalized. No students were affected by the gas.
