Massachusetts has made April 24, 2023, "North Atlantic Right Whale Day" in an effort to raise awareness about the endangered species. Right whales numbered less than 350. Right Whale Day legislation was signed by Governor Charlie Baker as he left office. The legislation will encourage Massachusetts residents to learn more about the mammals and threats posed to them by the dangers in the Atlantic Ocean.

The media and public have been invited to attend an event at 12 p.m. on April 24 in the Harbor Terrace Tent at the Aquarium, 1 Central Wharf Boston, MA 02110.

Coincidentally offshore wind contractors will be conducting a geotechnical site investigation in its lease area located in the Atlantic Ocean. The geotechnical survey is scheduled to take place from now to July 2023. The ship being used also has sonar services for seafloor site investigations.
