Monday Morning Painters Display Work

From “daffodils to pumpkins,” as they put it, the painters meet at a predetermined spot in Falmouth to set up their easels and paint en plein air for a couple of hours. In addition to the camaraderie, after painting for two hours, they offer feedback and critique each other’s work.

They return to each spot for two weeks, to give the painters time to finish their works. Mediums used include oil, acrylics, watercolor and pastel. Anywhere from five to 15 painters show up on a weekly basis. If the weather isn’t cooperating, the group comes to Falmouth Art Center and paints together in a classroom.

The group has their annual show at Falmouth Art Center this month and 12 members of the group have work in the show. The display is up until May 30 in the Landrau-Partan Gallery.

The following artists are in the show: Peter Daley of Falmouth, Susan Gustin of Mashpee, Sigrid Hecker of Falmouth, Carol Anne Knox of Falmouth, Ruth Leech of Falmouth, Barbara Lunn of Waquoit, Lynda Onthank of Falmouth, Marilyn Pageau of Randolph, Diane Scotti of Falmouth, Kathleen Taylor of Falmouth, Catherine van der Bil of East Falmouth and Gloria Warren of East Falmouth.

Participating in the show are Falmouth artists Peter Daley, Sigrid Hecker, Ruth Leech, Carol Anne Knox, Barbara Lunn, Lynda Onthank, Diane Scotti, Kathleen Taylor, Catherine van der Bil and Gloria Warren; along with Susan Gustin of Mashpee and Marilyn Pageau of Randolph.

The paintings feature a variety of spots around Falmouth including views on and around Nobska Lighthouse, the Great Sippewissett Marsh, Tony Andrews Farm, Soares Nursery, Nobska Beach, Peterson Farm, Chapoquoit Beach and the Shining Sea Bikeway.

The Falmouth Art Center is located at 137 Gifford Street in Falmouth. Hours are Mondays through Fridays, 9 AM to 4 PM; Saturdays 10 AM to 2 PM and Sundays 1 to 4 PM.
