New Era For Wind Turbine Power USA

The life span of a wind turbine, advocates say, is between 20 and 25 years. But in Falmouth, with 110-decibel noisy machines designed in the 1990s and assembled around 2004 and placed in storage until 2010 the life of a turbine appears to be much shorter.

So who are the advocates? More than likely if you own a law firm or an engineering company defending wind turbines for ten years you don't want the gravy train to end. What they always leave out or omit is after ten years of life we're seeing blades need to be replaced, the gearbox needs to be replaced, and more so it's unlikely they're going to get 20 years out of these turbines unless you spend millions repowering the antique turbines.

Taking down the turbines to move to a new location is a minimum of $200,000.00 and then two years of permitting at the new location somewhere outside the Town of Falmouth.

The Massachusetts courts shut down the nuisance machines where they have been idle since June 2017. The turbines took the health and property rights of up to 200 residential homeowners with no compensation.

The Falmouth turbines as a result of an undisclosed 110-decibel noise warning letter and email, part of the specifications, the wind turbines caused according to neighbors a range of health effects from hearing loss, nausea, and sleep disorders to dizziness, blood pressure, tinnitus, and more.

As of January of 2019, the Falmouth Selectboard was requesting letters of interest for a wind turbine project leasing agreement somewhere outside of the town to move the machines.

Nine companies responded but so far no request for proposal, RFP has issued.

Falmouth Town Meeting in November 2019 voted 2.5 million to spend taking down the wind turbines after approving seven years of legal and engineering studies that resulted in what the US Congress described as a disaster.

How much longer before the situation becomes ugly when voters realize the turbines need major work and are no longer under warranty.

The Falmouth wind turbine questions will more than likely be answered down the road after all the retirements of the current Falmouth administration officials.

Retirements are an early indicator of the political wind turbine environment.
