None Injured As Fire Rips Through North Falmouth Home

Fire officials worked in the rain early Thursday morning to extinguish a house fire on Abbie's Lane.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth fire officials weren't aided by winds and rain early Thursday morning as they worked to extinguish a house fire in North Falmouth.

Fire officials were called to Abbies Lane around 3:35 a.m. after a caller reported "flickering lights." Those lights turned out to be a fire at 34 Abbies Lane.

While additional support was sent to the home, officials determined that the fire burnt through the floor by the entrance to the home, which was found to be unoccupied, and was noted to extend from the basement to the first floor, officials said.

"The fire was confined to one side of the home and although this occurred during a wind and rainstorm, the prevailing winds were not affecting the escalation of the fire," fire officials said.

Fire personnel entered the home through the basement, where they were able to extinguish the fire there. Additional crews simultaneously were able to extinguish the fire on the first floor.
