Now that the days of kindergarten are well underway, most of us "rookie" parents have mastered the school bus routine or daily drop-off schedules. Here comes the hard part—managing all the day-to-day activities of an elementary school student.
Gym class is twice a week (don't forget the sneakers), art class, music, library books, snack day, milk money! It can get a little overwhelming for parents, let alone our little ones. I suggest a nice big calendar, a six-pack of sharpies (in all colors), a cork board and a few pushpins to organize it all!
Each day I look forward to a happy five-year-old's arrival home from school. She smiles proudly as she skips up the drive, and instantly she begins to search for all the words to describe her day's activities. Ah, I remember those blissful days of kindergarten at with my teacher, the legendary Ms. MacIntosh.
