Patriotic hymn Sing on July 5

The First Congregational Church of Falmouth, which is situated directly across from the Town Green, will be holding a “Patriotic Hymn Sing” on Friday, July 5 at 7PM.

John Dulina, Concert Master and Music Director, will play patriotic songs and hymns on the outstanding Austin Organ, to be sung by choir members and all who attend. “ Patriotic Hymns are always crowd favorites, and it is a delight to hear them on one of the finest organs on Cape Cod,” states Mr. Dulina. Familiar selections such as America the Beautiful, songs from the Armed Services Medley and My Country Tis of Thee will be featured.

Abridged readings will include such poems as Paul Revere’s Ride, verses from Katherine Lee Bates, and the Gettysburg Address. The Church is especially proud to have a personal connection with American history, when they can claim Katharine Lee Bates as author of America the Beautiful, to be a neighbor. Furthermore, the bell was fashioned by none other than Paul Revere himself in 1796, and it still rings from the belfry to announce Sunday services and special occasions.

Be sure to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity on Friday the fifth of July. Here is a chance to gather with Summer visitors as well as members of the local Falmouth community to share in a celebration of our country’s independence. Everyone is invited to hear prelude music before the event in the Sanctuary, and afterwards, Smitty will be in the parking lot with ice cream cones, at a special price of $4.00.
