Pedestrian Dies After Cape Cod Crash

A 73-year-old died after being struck by a car. The driver stayed on the scene to administer aid until first responders arrived.

FALMOUTH, MA — One person is dead after a pedestrian vs. car crash on Cape Cod over the weekend, police confirmed.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Falmouth police responded to the intersection of Gifford Street and Dillingham Avenue after receiving reports of the crash,

Officers found a 73-year-old man who had been struck by a car at the scene, officials said. The car's operator stayed on the scene and aided the pedestrian until emergency services officials arrived.

The 73-year-old was taken to Falmouth Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council's Accident Reconstruction Team and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded to assist with the investigation, which remains active.
