Putting the Fun back in Masks for Falmouth Art Center Fundraiser
Colorful, unusual and powerful. That describes 27 masks made by local artists for the Falmouth Art Center's first ever fall fundraiser.
Colorful, unusual and powerful. That describes 27 masks made by local artists for the Falmouth Art Center’s first ever fall fundraiser and exhibit devoted to masks. Called “Masks Mandatory!,” the exhibit is a striking mix of mediums, including ceramics, feathers, paint, fabric and even horseshoe crabs.
The way the fundraiser works is the public is invited to place a donation for $10 on their favorite mask or masks. Participants can vote as many times as they want with each mask vote costing a $10 donation.
The vote gives the donor a chance to win the mask. At the end of the month, Art Center staff will draw donors names out of a hat to see who wins each mask.

The masks are on display in person in the Art Center’s Landrau-Partan Gallery through November 18.

Falmouth Art Center Executive Director Laura Reckford said, “This is a fun opportunity for the public to support the Falmouth Art Center. We have been in the community for 55 years and we hope to be here for 55 more. But the community’s support is critical during this difficult year.”
The following artists have made masks: Kim Sheerin of Pocasset, Susan Varga of Falmouth, Seth Rainville of New Bedford, Charlotte Harris of North Falmouth, Patrice Mogan of Sandwich, Diane Scotti of Falmouth, Lisa Errico of Mashpee, Joyce Bock of North Falmouth, Mark Hutker of Cataumet, Lisa Horton of Mashpee, Susan Elizabeth Clark of Teaticket, James Musto of North Falmouth, Shirley Lombardozzi of East Falmouth, Therese Bilodeau of Mashpee, Vicky Cullen of West Falmouth, Sandra Faiman-Silva of Falmouth, Christine Anderson of Cotuit, Julie Demello of East Falmouth, Camilla Frager of Canton and Mary Ann Gardzina of East Falmouth.
The Falmouth Art Center located at 137 Gifford Street in Falmouth is free and open to the public daily, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm; Saturday 10am to 2pm and Sunday 1 to 4pm. For more information, go to FalmouthArt.org or call 508-540-3304.
