Sagamore Bridge Traffic Congestion A Problem. Have Cape Cod Police Found A Fix?
Traffic restrictions on a few local roads won't completely solve the problem, but Bourne police hope it could eliminate some issues.

BOURNE, MA — Police officials and residents of Cape Cod knew that Sagamore Bridge construction would cause traffic congestion. That hasn't made it any less annoying for locals.
Now, with the construction and lane closure continuing to be a problem for police, they hope they've found at least a partial solution.
Bourne police on Friday said that they, along with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, have been "evaluating the increased traffic congestion."

Now, Bourne will implement traffic restrictions in the area of Adams Street, specifically at the intersections with Sandwich Road and Cranberry Highway.
Police said Adams Street and Westdale Park with be closed to public travel with access only allowed for residents of that area. All general traffic on Sandwich Road attempting to travel over the Sagamore Bridge will be diverted to the signalized intersection at Ben Abbey Road.

"While this modification will not eliminate traffic related to the construction, we anticipate it should assist with some of the issues observed in the area," police said.
The first day of this change was April 21, and is set to continue at least for the time being.
