Sally Casper's 'Breakwater' Watercolors Featured At Art Gallery

Artist Sally Casper works in a number of mediums and likes to experiment with different subject matter. But her July show at Falmouth Art Center is very focused.

“Breakwater: Watercolors by Sally Casper” is on view from July 1 through 31 in Falmouth Art Center’s Sigel Gallery.

She is showing 30 watercolors of the Provincetown Breakwater, the mile-long pile of rocks that connects the far west end of Commercial Street to Long Point, the curling tip of Cape Cod.

“Walking the Breakwater in Provincetown with camera in hand, I was enamored with the patterns of shapes of the rocks, crevices, lichens, striations within rocks, and sudden glimpses of water. Every step was a painting. Come winter, the photos inspired this series of watercolors,” she said.

Since retiring in 2006 from three decades working for nonprofit organizations, Ms. Casper has studied drawing, painting, printmaking and photography through Falmouth Art Center, the Upper Cape Camera Club, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and the Boston studio of Joel Janowitz. She joined Turtle Studios in Newton in 2013.
