Occasionally, something just catches your eye. Maybe it jogs a memory or provides a moment of pleasure that results in a smile. My flash of recognition and pleasure came as a result of a little blue jar.
The Ball Jar Company has issued a limited American Heritage Collection of blue canning jars to commemorate their 100’th anniversary. From what I can tell, they have been an enormous hit. I contributed to their success by buying a dozen jars.
Finding delight in these jars has renewed my once active interest in canning and preserving. The box of canning jars that I unearthed from the basement provided proof to the fact that I once made pickles and jam, chutney and apple butter. Goal for next summer and fall: fill those jars!
In the meantime, my blue jars hold flowers and nuts. The quart jars that I rescued from the basement hold stock and leftover soup. I even located my canning funnel to make putting soup in the jars easier.
Anticipation and delight from a little blue jar!
