Seagulls Close MA School For 3 Days

Officials said dropped shells led to a roof leak at the school.

WAREHAM, MA – Some students in Wareham can thank seagulls for their early February vacation. Classes at Minot Forest Elementary School and Wareham Middle School were canceled Wednesday, Thursday and Friday due to a roof leak, officials said.

The cause of the leak? Seagulls dropping shells on it, leading to a tear, Superintendent Kimberly Shaver-Hood told southcoasttoday.com. She said there was some water damage to the wing of the middle school where the auditorium and library are.

Minot students are using the building while a new elementary school is being built. Students are expected to return Feb. 25.
