Single-Car Crash Causes Falmouth Traffic Issues, Power Outages

Eversource crews are being dispatched to the Falmouth Tech Park area after a car crashed into a utility pole, causing downed power lines.

FALMOUTH, MA – An early-morning single-car accident Monday has caused power outages and is rerouting traffic after a car crashed into a utility pole, Falmouth police said.

A Chevy Cruz struck the utility pole at 4:22 a.m. in the 700 block of Thomas B. Landers Road and Research Rd, police said. The accident caused the pole to be sheared off at the base, which caused power lines to fall into both lanes of the roadway. The accident also caused power outages to local residents and businesses around the Falmouth Tech Park Industrial Zone and Falmouth Ice Arena.

Eversource crews have been dispatched to the scene, but as of early Monday morning, had not yet arrived on scene. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as Eversource has not estimated the amount of time needed to clean up the area. No injuries were reported at the scene of the accident, police said.
